Doctors

  • Dr Rohit Sethi – ((Nottingham 1983) BMedSci BM BS DA MRCGP)
    Dr Sethi qualified in Nottingham in 1983 and joined the Phoenix Surgery in 1989. As well as being a GP he is a trained anaesthetist and until March 2017 he worked at Cheltenham General Hospital in this role. He covers Dr Hill’s patients when Dr Hill is on leave.
    He is also co-founder and medical advisor of the medical communications and information company Intouch with Health (www.intouchwithhealth.co.uk)
    Rohit volunteers much of his annual leave to travel to Sierra Leone in West Africa where he supports a number of medical and community projects. With his wife, Veronica (also a GP), they started the charity HelpMadina (www.helpmadina.org.uk).
  • Dr Alison Nichol – ((Bristol 1996) MBChB MRCGP DRCOG DFFP)
    Dr Nichol graduated from the University of Bristol in 1996. In 2000 she gained membership of the Royal College of GPs with distinction and she became a GP Partner at Phoenix Health Group where she has worked happily ever since. A core value of her approach is the holistic care of her patients and guiding them to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. Dr Nichol works closely with Dr Vernon to care for their patients. She enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a particular interest in women’s health. She has achieved postgraduate diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology, sexual and reproductive health and practical contraceptive techniques. Alison is married with two sons and is happiest in the mountains walking, cycling and skiing.
  • Dr Peter Hill – ((Nottingham 2006) BMedSci BM BS DRCOG DFSRH MRCGP FRACGP)
    Dr Hill qualified at Nottingham University and following hospital jobs, completed his GP training in Gloucestershire. Dr Hill spent a year working as a GP in Sydney, Australia and has been a medic on the Trans Siberian Express and on a train touring Iran. In his spare time Dr Hill enjoys rugby and cricket. Dr Hill is the GP Representative on the Patient Participation Group and covers Dr Sethi’s patients when he is on leave.
  • Dr Khalid Al-Khayat – (Birmingham 2006) MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH
    Dr Khalid Al-Khayat known as “Dr Khalid” qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 2006. He completed his G.P training in the Midlands before initially working around the Wiltshire and Swindon area. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice, but particularly training medical students. He has also been approved as a trainer for up and coming GP registrars who are trainee GPs. In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit and doing anything outdoors. He also spends a lot of time with his horses.
  • Dr Naomi Vernon
    Dr Vernon qualified from Nottingham University in 2005 and joined Phoenix Health Group as a Partner in 2016. Her clinical interests include Lifestyle Medicine, Oncology, Child Health and Dermatology. She is practice lead for Primary Care Research and works closely with NIHR CRN West of England. In 2023 the Practice was awarded the Rising Star Award by NIHR CRN West of England for our contribution to Primary Care research. Outside of work, she enjoys running, swimming, music and loves the outdoors. She is married with two children.
  • Dr Jonathan Maxted – (Nottingham 2013) BMedSci BM BS
    Dr Maxted qualified from The University of Nottingham in 2013 and has undertaken GP training at Great Western Hospital. During his training Dr Maxted has become accredited by the RCGP for Minor Ops. Dr Maxted has an interest in Palliative care and spent part of his training working at Prospect Hospice in Swindon. Outside of work he enjoys spending time outdoors walking, skiing and wakeboarding.
  • Dr Heil
    Dr Heil graduated from Peninsula Medical School in 2015 and completed her GP training in Swindon. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice and is also interested in Medical Education. Dr Heil is a keen baker and in her spare time you’ll find her out on her bike, walking or climbing. She is married and has a bouncy cocker spaniel puppy called Bosco.
  • Dr Dudley-Cooke
    Dr Dudley-Cooke qualified from Bristol University in 2011 and completed her GP training in South West London. She has worked for 5 years in a General Practice in Surrey before moving West with her husband and 2 children. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has particular interest in medical education and lifestyle medicine. She is thrilled to have moved to the countryside and enjoys exploring the local area with her family, gardening and making goodies from her homegrown produce.
  • Dr Angela Allen
    I qualified from Manchester university in 2013 before doing my GP training in both London and Bristol. I have recently moved back to where I grew up near Cirencester and it’s lovely to be back in the countryside. I enjoy all aspects of family medicine and have a special interest in sexual and reproductive health. Outside work, I am kept very busy by our two little boys, our chickens and lambs, walking, exploring and swimming in the lakes nearby.
  • Dr Henry Allen – (Southampton 2013) BMedSc BSc BM MRCGP
    Dr Henry Allen qualified at University of Southampton in 2013 having completed an intercalated degree in Sports Science at Loughborough University. Having spent several years working in the British Army he then completed GP training in Swindon and Wiltshire. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice and has a particular interest in musculoskeletal medicine. He grew up in the South West, moved to the area with his young family in 2020 and enjoys tennis, running and carpentry.
  • Dr Angus McMyn – BSc (Hons) MBBS (London 2006) DRCOG MRCGP
    After a first degree in Physiology at the University of St. Andrews, Dr McMyn studied medicine at St. George’s London and qualified in 2006. He moved to Devon where he trained and qualified as a GP and worked as a GP partner for 6 years.
    His wife Emma is a GP and they have 4 young children and moved back to Gloucetershire in 2017 in order to live closer to their extended family and join The Phoenix Health Group.
    In any time off Dr McMyn is likely to be found; by, on or in the Sea or nearest swimming pool or watching Rugby.
  • Dr Emma McMyn – MRCGP (2017), MBBS (London 2006), MA (CANTAB 1999).Dr Emma grew up locally, (her mum was briefly a physio at the Tetbury Surgery!) She studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, then attended St George’s Hospital Medical School and qualified as a doctor in 2006.  After qualifying she moved to Devon with her husband (Dr Angus), where they both worked in local hospitals and trained to become GPs. In 2017 they moved back to Gloucestershire with their 4 children. Dr Emma has worked at the practice ever since in various roles.  She is interested, and has completed courses, in lifestyle medicine and culinary medicine. She enjoys walking, swimming, growing vegetables and spending time with friends and family.
  • Dr Sarah Cardew – (Bristol 2006) MBChB MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH
    Dr Cardew qualified at Bristol medical school in 2006.
    Prior to starting her GP training, she spent several years as a hospital trainee in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She joined the practice in 2012 and completed her GP training here in 2013 when it was known under its old name of Romney House Surgery. She became a partner with the Phoenix Health Group in 2019. She enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a particular interest in women’s health. She is married and has a very energetic son! When she does have a moment to relax she enjoys gardening, yoga and visiting her extend family in Cornwall.
  • Dr Freddie Charrington – (Bristol) MBChB BSc (hons) MRCGP. Dr Charrington Qualified from Bristol university in 2015 and joined Pheonix in August 2021 after completing his GP training in West Sussex. He grew up in Tetbury and is very happy to be back with his Wife, Son and black labrador. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, getting outdoors and a good book.
  • Dr Paul Sherringham
    I’m 55 years old and married with three children. I qualified from Bristol in 1993 and was a partner in Stow on the Wold Surgery for over 24 years, having just recently left to explore new challenges. I enjoy all aspects of General Practice but child health and elderly care medicine in particular. I enjoy time with my family, walking, music and playing as much tennis as I can.
